Marlie's Rugby World Cup 2017 Send-Off
Our very own Plumber, Marlie Packer is a key part of the England squad for the women’s Rugby World Cup 2017. The tournament is taking place in Ireland this month and England, the Red Roses, are the reigning World Champions so we’re all hoping that open side flanker Marlie will come back in September with her second winner’s medal.
But we couldn’t let Marlie go without giving her a special HomeServe send-off, so the day before she joined up with the squad, she popped in to our Walsall HQ to give our People the chance to wish her well….and we tackled her to answer a few questions!
Questions like...which skills used in plumbing can be transferred to international rugby...and vice versa.
Marlie: “Both involve working as part of a team. You need to trust your teammates, whether they’re on the pitch with you or on the end of the phone, giving you information.
“And being adaptable is important in both disciplines too. You need to think quickly on the pitch and it’s the same when you attend a Customer’s house. When you turn up to a house and there’s water pouring everywhere you need to think quickly, fix the problem and make sure that Customer is ok.”
Got a drive for more? Then don’t pass up the chance to spend the full eighty minutes with HomeServe’s very own international rugby star, sharing her thoughts on coping with pressure, how her plumbing skills come in handy on the pitch, and what makes the famous Red Roses so special.
