Six ways to decorate Easter eggs

Simple to make and fun for all the family, get creative this Easter with these egg-cellent design ideas from marvelJes.

What you'll need:

  • Duck eggs

  • Vinegar

  • Food colouring

  • A spoon

  • An egg holder

  • Crayons and colouring pens

  • Small bowls

  • Craft glue

  • Googly eyes

  • Scissors

  • Tape

  • Spray glitter


  • Before you get started you need to prepare your eggs and food colouring

  • Boil the eggs

  • Boil 250ml of water and let it cool

  • Add 1tsp of white vinegar and 20 drops of whichever food colouring you prefer

Now to get decorating!

Magic crayon egg

  1. Take a crayon and write a message on your egg

  2. Place the egg in the dye for a few minutes

  3. Remove the egg and let it dry

Chick egg

  1. Place an egg in yellow dye for 15 minutes

  2. After the 15 minutes, remove the egg and leave it to dry

  3. Once dry, glue the eyes onto the egg

  4. Using an orange pen, draw the beak below the eyes

  5. Using a black pen draw on legs and feet

Half and half egg

  1. Dip the bottom half of the egg in dye

  2. Once dry, turn the egg over and dip it into another colour dye of your choice

  3. Leave that side to dry and you're done!

Criss cross egg

  1. Cut the tape into thin strips

  2. Stick the tape to the egg in a criss cross style

  3. When you're done, soak your egg in dye for a minute

  4. Take the egg out, let it dry and then peel off the tape

Emoji egg

  1. Drop an egg into yellow dye

  2. Remove and once dry, draw your emoji face using markers

Galaxy egg

  1. Dye part of the egg blue and let it completely dry

  2. Dye the rest of the egg purple

  3. Once dry, spray on the glitter!
